Hyderabad, October 13 (UNI) – The Telangana government has announced a substantial investment of Rs 251 crore towards the development of the Sammakka Saralamma Temple located in Medaram, Mulugu district. This revered pilgrimage site attracts millions of devotees annually. Revenue and Warangal in-charge Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy made the announcement during an inspection of the ongoing development works alongside Panchayat Raj Minister Dhanasari Anasuya Seethakka.
Minister Reddy highlighted that during Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's recent visit, an additional Rs 101 crore was sanctioned for the temple's enhancement, with tenders worth Rs 71 crore already invited. This new allocation complements the earlier sanctioned amount of Rs 150 crore, aiming for phased and permanent improvements to the temple infrastructure.
The allocated funds will be directed towards upgrading the temple premises, constructing access roads, and enhancing facilities to accommodate both tribal and non-tribal devotees. Special emphasis is being placed on flood-proofing measures to prevent damage during adverse weather conditions.
Minister Reddy has instructed the district Collector and Superintendent of Police to ensure the completion of all development works within 50 days. Minister Seethakka will oversee the project personally to guarantee systematic progress.
Officials revealed that over one crore devotees participated in the Medaram fair last year, and with these development efforts, the government anticipates the number of visitors to double this year. Member of Parliament Balaram Naik and other senior officials were also present at the press conference.
