Telangana Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced that the state government, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, is dedicated to realizing the dream of home ownership for the underprivileged through the Indiramma Housing Scheme. Progress in construction is swiftly advancing in rural regions, with a newfound emphasis on urban centers. Minister Ponguleti recently assessed the scheme's advancement with housing authorities at his Secretariat office, revealing the scheme's objective of offering permanent housing to impoverished families residing in crowded urban localities. To tackle land scarcity, the government has sanctioned G 1 style construction on plots measuring at least 30 square meters. Under the updated guidelines as per G.O. No. 69, beneficiaries are allowed to construct 200 sq. ft. on the ground floor and an additional 200 sq. ft. on the first floor, receiving financial aid of Rs 5 lakh distributed in four phases linked to construction milestones. Urban beneficiaries are required to build a residence comprising two 70 sq. ft. rooms, a 35.5 sq. ft. kitchen, and a separate toilet and bathroom, all with RCC slab construction and necessary structural design approval from DEE (Housing). Minister Ponguleti outlined the staged disbursement: Rs 1 lakh after ground floor roof completion, another Rs 1 lakh upon finishing the ground floor, Rs 2 lakh after first-floor columns, slabs, and walls are done, and the final Rs 1 lakh upon overall completion. Telangana stands as the sole state providing Rs 5 lakh per household for the disadvantaged, reaffirming the government's commitment to delivering a home to every eligible family as pledged in the election manifesto. Minister Ponguleti instructed officials to hasten work in urban zones, ensuring no deserving beneficiary is overlooked, according to an official statement.
