President Droupadi Murmu's travel plans to Sabarimala Temple were modified due to inclement weather. Instead of landing at Nilackal as planned, she arrived at Pramadom, Konni after taking a helicopter from the state capital on Wednesday. Kerala Governor Rajendra V. Arlekar was not on board; State Devasom Minister V.N. Vasavan accompanied the President. At Pramadom, she was welcomed by local MP Anto Antony, legislators, and officials. Her journey to Pamba, the foothills of the temple, commenced from Pramadom. President Murmu, after preparing the traditional 'irumudikettu', will travel to the temple's Sannidhanam in a special vehicle escorted by police. While pilgrims usually trek from Pamba to the hilltop temple, the President will arrive in a special vehicle. She will ascend the sacred 18 steps with the 'irumudikettu' and offer prayers to Lord Ayyappa. The chief priest will greet her at the flag post area with a poornakumbham ritual. After the darshan, President Murmu will rest at the guest house before returning to Thiruvananthapuram. A dinner hosted by Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will conclude her visit. Pilgrim entry to Sabarimala has been restricted during her visit, and the Travancore Devaswom Board will present her with an idol of Lord Ayyappa. President Murmu is expected to depart for New Delhi on October 24.
