Megaliter Varunaa Secures Rs 15 Cr Seed Capital for Urban Water Management Expansion

Megaliter Varunaa, a startup specializing in urban water management, has successfully raised Rs 15 crore in seed capital to fuel its business expansion. A subsidiary of NSE-listed Banka BioLoo Limited based in Hyderabad, Megaliter Varunaa has received mentorship from Brigade REAP. The company announced on Thursday that it secured the funds from long-term institutional investors. This capital injection is expected to drive project development, accelerate business growth, and foster technology innovation in urban water management. Megaliter Varunaa adopts the 'Megaliter Model', a zero-capex, subscription-based solution that transforms sewage treatment plants (STPs) into productive, circular water utilities to maximize wastewater reuse. Vishal Murarka, the Managing Director of Megaliter Varunaa, highlighted the company's achievement of treating over 3 billion liters of wastewater to date, with a current capacity exceeding 2.5 billion liters annually. The company aims to establish projects to recycle more than 10 billion liters annually in the next 12 months, contributing to enhanced water resilience for cities and reduced freshwater dependency. Abhay Garg, Chief Mentor at Brigade REAP, commended Megaliter Varunaa for its sustainable impact-driven innovation that reimagines infrastructure through circularity, reliability, and climate resilience. He emphasized that the support provided by Brigade REAP extends beyond mentorship, focusing on refining the startup's go-to-market strategy and aligning innovation with real-world urban challenges. Brigade REAP, operated by Bengaluru-based realty firm Brigade Group, is dedicated to nurturing startups in the real estate sector.
