Naredco Maharashtra is setting ambitious goals to attract over ₹10,000 crore in investment within India's real estate sector. This initiative reflects a growing trend of institutional capital flowing into real estate, with significant interest from both domestic and foreign investors. The targeted investment encompasses foreign direct investment (FDI) as well as domestic institutional funding, with the state aiming to capitalize on ongoing infrastructure developments and urban redevelopment projects to draw in potential investors.

Recent statistics indicate a robust trajectory for India's real estate market, with JLL India reporting that transaction volumes reached USD 1.7 billion in the first quarter of 2026, marking a substantial 37 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Core asset acquisitions, which are particularly appealing to investors seeking stable returns, surged by an impressive 178 percent to USD 1.03 billion during the same quarter. This trend appears to be continuing into the second quarter, with transactions in core assets already hitting USD 1.48 billion, underscoring sustained investor interest despite the complexities of the global economic landscape.

To facilitate this investment drive, Maharashtra is focusing on comprehensive infrastructure enhancements, including initiatives like Mumbai 3.0 and transit-oriented development corridors, along with urban redevelopment efforts. Naredco Maharashtra has indicated that international investors from regions such as Japan, South Korea, and the Middle East have shown increasing interest, aligning with the state's broader investment objectives. Additionally, the upcoming International Business & Finance Centre (IBFC) in Nagpur is set to play a pivotal role in decentralizing economic activity and creating a regional financial hub, with plans for a 1,710-acre integrated ecosystem designed for corporations, startups, and financial institutions.

The overall outlook for the real estate sector in India remains promising, with the market size projected to reach USD 10 trillion by 2047 and its contribution to national GDP expected to grow significantly from the current 7.3 percent to around 20 percent. This growth is anticipated to be driven by urbanization, ongoing infrastructure projects, and rising demand across various asset classes, including residential, commercial, logistics, and data centers. According to Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of Naredco India, the continuous focus on infrastructure development is essential for sustaining this growth trajectory and enhancing the investment landscape in Maharashtra and beyond.
