GT Bharathi Reveals Major Commercial Development in Chengalpattu

GT Bharathi is planning to develop a World Trade Center (WTC) as a landmark within an integrated commercial and mixed-development project worth approximately ₹7,000 crore in Chengalpattu. Spread across more than 150 acres in Tamil Nadu, the project aims to bring commercial, technology, housing and leisure components together in one development. To connect with the global network of trade centres, the company acquired a licence from the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) to develop a World Trade Center business project at the location. The project is expected to elevate Chengalpattu’s commercial profile and contribute to the city’s evolving commercial landscape.

An Integrated Centre for Business and Technology

The proposed township is expected to include a WTC business park, retail and commercial districts, IT facilities and data centres, residential areas, schools and hotel amenities. Bringing these elements together is intended to create a live-work-learn environment where residents, professionals and companies can access a range of facilities within the wider community. The inclusion of technology-focused buildings and data centres reflects the proposed development’s emphasis on technology-oriented real estate. The mix of property uses could create opportunities for office leasing, retail, tourism and supporting service businesses.

Employment and Real Estate Opportunities in the Region

According to reports cited in the submitted article, GT Bharathi says the completed project could generate more than one lakh jobs. Subject to land consolidation, planning and other approvals, the company proposes to develop the township in phases over approximately 10 years. If delivered as proposed, it could serve demand for housing, shopping, retail and hospitality, while creating opportunities for local vendors, service providers and businesses connected to the real estate and technology sectors.

The proposed location within the wider OMR–ECR corridor could potentially support Chengalpattu’s long-term commercial viability. Suitable land parcels have reportedly been identified and discussed with GT Bharathi. Further clarity on the final site, construction timeline and project phases will be important as planning progresses. The proposed WTC township represents a major commercial real estate proposition with potential to support connected urban growth, economic activity and employment in Tamil Nadu.

Summary

GT Bharathi’s proposed ₹7,000 crore World Trade Center township in Chengalpattu would combine commercial, technology, residential and leisure uses, with potential employment and real estate opportunities.
