Increasing the Capital's Urban Living Safety
Delhi's Office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) has started a forward-thinking and proactive project to improve the city's residential infrastructure. In a circular issued recently all Cooperative Group Housing Societies (CGHS) have been directed to conduct immediately a detailed safety audit of buildings and all common areas in their premises. This novel strategy involves evaluating structural soundness, verifying the fire safety measures, and checking the performance of the lifts. By establishing a deadline for residential managing committees to file their reports, the government is creating an environment of responsibility and security that provides thousands of families living in these settlements with stable peace of mind.
A Joint Approach to Contemporary Infrastructure
Expert Assessment and Structural Resilience
To properly implement this initiative, housing society management committees are working with qualified structural engineers and expert groups to conduct thorough physical inspections. The purpose of these inspections is to identify common area upgrades, structural wear, and periodic maintenance requirements before they become serious problems.
Complete Compliance with Fire and System Safety
In addition to the structural integrity, the order also focuses on working out the firefighting systems and also validating the Fire Safety Certificates. Societies will be verifying that their elevator systems are inspected and can work seamlessly in a non-intermittent manner along with their structures. This holistic approach will enable management teams to quickly refine their existing local disaster management and routine property maintenance plans. The positive approach has been very well accepted by property management teams and RWAs which see it as a golden opportunity to add value to their community assets and build a world-class, safe and resilient urban ecosystem for the residents of Delhi.
Summary
To foster better living conditions and secured to the infrastructure, all groups' housing societies will have to undergo safety and structural audits as directed by Delhi.
