In a significant move to address pressing issues within the real estate sector, CREDAI-MCHI convened with Shri Chandrakant Bawankule, the Hon. Revenue Minister of Maharashtra. This high-level meeting, led by CREDAI-MCHI President Sukhraj Nahar, focused on critical challenges pertaining to revenue that are currently impacting the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The engagement highlights the government's commitment to resolving industry concerns that have persisted for some time, thereby fostering a conducive environment for real estate development in the region.

The meeting saw representation from various CREDAI-MCHI leaders, including Secretary Rushi Mehta, Immediate Past President Dominic Romell, and others, who contributed to the discussions regarding key policy changes. This meeting is part of a broader consultative initiative that includes ongoing discussions with the collector and city officials, aiming to streamline processes affecting the real estate industry. The Joint Task Force, comprising members from NAREDCO, BDA, and PEATA, has been instrumental in these discussions, reflecting a collaborative approach to addressing the sector's challenges.

During the meeting, President Sukhraj Nahar emphasized the government's willingness to tackle industry concerns efficiently. He highlighted the proposed initiatives aimed at digitizing processes and simplifying procedures, which are expected to enhance transparency and improve the ease of doing business in the real estate sector. One of the urgent priorities discussed was the need for clarity regarding royalty-related issues, which the Minister addressed positively, underscoring the importance of ensuring that these solutions are communicated effectively throughout the bureaucratic hierarchy.

Secretary Rushi Mehta noted the constructive nature of the discussions, particularly with respect to resolving bottlenecks related to Royalty permissions and Non-Agricultural (NA) clearances. Key outcomes included the introduction of online systems for Royalty permissions and an extension of the Royalty payment window from one month to six months. The Minister also stressed the necessity for improved integration of property-related records, proposing that transactions such as development agreements and leases be automatically updated in the Property Register through system linkages. Furthermore, a simplified online process for NA charges was discussed, expected to mitigate delays currently faced by developers, thus facilitating a smoother operational flow in the sector. CREDAI-MCHI expressed gratitude for the Minister's proactive approach and ongoing support, indicating a collaborative path forward for the real estate industry in Maharashtra.
