In a bid to drive inclusive development and administrative reform, the Assam Cabinet recently greenlit a series of pivotal policy decisions. These measures encompass industrial expansion, land entitlements for indigenous families, teacher welfare, and the empowerment of ethnic groups. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma disclosed that the Cabinet has sanctioned an increase in the project cost for the 500 TPD Methanol and 200 TPD Formalin project of Assam Petrochemicals Ltd to Rs 2,267.22 crore. This move is poised to fuel industrial growth, generate job opportunities, and fortify the state's petrochemical infrastructure. To secure the rights of indigenous landless families, the Cabinet has approved 224 proposals under Mission Basundhara 2.0 for land patta allocations. This initiative aims to resolve longstanding land disputes and ensure fair access to land resources for indigenous communities. With a focus on the education sector, the Cabinet has given the green light to amend The Assam Elementary and Secondary Schools Teachers' (Regulation of Posting and Transfer) (Amendment) Bill, 2025. This amendment will introduce a structured framework for teacher transfers and regularization. Upon implementation, around 12,000 contractual teachers under the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) will be able to seek regularization, enhancing job security and administrative efficiency. To enhance the welfare of the Moran and Matak communities, the Cabinet has approved the Matak Autonomous Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, and the Moran Autonomous Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 for the upcoming Assembly session. These decisions underscore the government's commitment to empowering indigenous communities through increased administrative and developmental autonomy. Additionally, the Cabinet has given the go-ahead to table the Tiwari Commission Report on the 1983 Nellie Massacre in the next Assam Legislative Assembly session. This report, which has been kept under wraps for decades, is anticipated to illuminate one of Assam's darkest moments. The Assam Cabinet's recent decisions highlight a steadfast dedication to industrial growth, social justice, and inclusive governance, as emphasized by the Chief Minister. Industry experts emphasize the importance of location and infrastructure in property valuation. The Indian real estate market continues to show resilience amid changing economic conditions. Emerging trends in smart homes and green buildings are influencing buyer preferences significantly. The government's housing initiatives continue to shape market dynamics across different regions. Market analysts recommend thorough research and due diligence before making investment decisions.
